Greater Wax Moths, they are used as a treat for a wide variety of exotic pets, perfect for feeding both the larvae form or adult moths if left to pupate. People often feed these to fish, poultry and birds, especially during the nesting season
cream in color, soft skinned larvae before they pupate inside a silk cocoon and emerging adult moths after around 1-9 weeks depending upon temperatures. The adults are brown-grey and are up to 20mm in length and they moths average lifespan is 12 to 21 days.
Wax Worms will pupate more slowly at lower temperatures and are best stored at temperatures between 53 to 68. If you want to hatch them out into moths, keeping them warmer will accelerate this process at 78-80.
You will not need to feed the worms once they are into the pupal stage They should last 1 - 4 weeks before they begin to pupate, depending on temperatures.
Wax Worms are soft skinned so easy to digest and naturally sweet and sugary due to their diet and are high in fat
They are also ideal for providing a boost to underweight animals and also gravid or post lay females.
Culture includes 50 wax worm pupias/worms already in worm food seen above 1 caning ring and 2 different size mesh screen inserts to add to the canning jar ring (for each phase of growth of the wax worms) it is suggested that you purchase 2 wide mouth canning jars (not included in kit) also included is 2 bags of our home made wax worm culture mix
